Guidelines

We also ask that you follow some simple guidelines:

  • Make sure you are fully prepared. Bring warm, water proof clothing and bring some snacks with you if you are venturing out on site.
  • Always carry a map and plan your route in advance. The turbines are spaced surprisingly far apart and routes can be much longer than you first anticipate. If you are unsure, ask in the Visitor Centre before venturing out. It's a good idea to let someone know your estimated completion time and route.
  • The trails on site are made of unbound compacted stone and can be loose in areas. Make sure you wear study footwear, ideally walking boots. The ground conditions at Whitelee are soft and boggy so we ask that you stick to the trails at all times and do not venture off the tracks.
  • Take care of other site users, such as cyclists and horse riders who may approach you quickly from behind.
