Long distance walk: Whitelee spine road
We recommend this walk or cycle for those with a very good level of fitness. This route is also suitable for a longer horse ride. We do not recommend this route for families with children or anyone with restricted fitness.
Why explore this route?
For those with a sense of adventure, this walk will let you experience the diversity of Whitelee as you cross from one side of the site to the other, witnessing the changing landscape in between. Please note that this is written as a one-way route so make sure you double the distance and time if you plan on returning to your point of origin.
- Distance: 17 kilometres / 10.5 miles (one way) or 34 kilometers / 21 miles (return)
- Time: Allow approximately 3.5 hours one way or 7 hours to complete if returning
- Suitable for: Walkers, cyclists and horse riders
- Access point: Access from Whitelee Visitor Centre
Please collect a map from the Visitor Centre before beginning your walk. Maps are also available beside the access gate when walking out of hours and can also be downloaded from here. Begin at the Visitor Centre car park and navigate towards the main spine road, following this right to the far end of the site at Ardochrig.
